Title: | Démiurges ou démolisseurs ?: Lecture écopoétique des maçons de Bertrand, Blanchecotte, Poncy et Ségalas | English Title: | Demiurges or Demolishers?: An Ecopoetic Analysis of Stonemasons in Bertrand, Blanchecotte, Poncy, and Ségalas | Contributor(s): | Finch-Race, Daniel (author); Gosetti, Valentina (author) | Publication Date: | 2022-05-11 | Open Access: | Yes | DOI: | 10.48611/isbn.978-2-406-13171-7.p.0017 | Handle Link: | https://hdl.handle.net/1959.11/53299 | Abstract: | Cet article explore écopoétiquement « Le Maçon », une des fantaisies les plus connues de Gaspard de la Nuit, dans une étude comparative avec les poèmes de Poncy (Marines, 1842, Le Chantier, 1844), Ségalas (Nos bons Parisiens, 1864) et Blanchecotte (Les Militantes, 1875). Le maçon, quelque part entre modeste artisan et puissant démiurge-démolisseur, est ici considéré comme une figure de la création et de la destruction du paysage urbain du xixe siècle, et comme un acteur essentiel du progrès. | Publication Type: | Journal Article | Grant Details: | ARC/DE200101206 | Source of Publication: | Revue Bertrand (5), p. 17-32 | Publisher: | Classiques Garnier | Place of Publication: | France | ISSN: | 2610-7171 2649-2644 |

Peer Reviewed: | Yes | HERDC Category Description: | C1 Refereed Article in a Scholarly Journal | English Abstract: | This article is an ecopoetic exploration of "Le Maçon", one of Gaspard de la Nuit's best-known compositions. We propose a comparative encounter with the poems of Poncy (Marines, 1842, Le Chantier, 1844), Ségalas (Nos bons Parisiens, 1864) and Blanchecotte (Les Militantes, 1875). The mason, somewhere between a modest worker and a powerful demiurge-demolisher, is here understood as a key figure in the creation and destruction of nineteenth-century urban landscapes and as an essential agent in humanity's progress. |
