Abstract: One of the significant social impacts of the recent growth in aviation industry is aircraft-related noise grievances, which has become a contentious issue between airports and residents living around airports. Although noise abatement procedures of airports have received significant attention, airport-community relations remain an underrated subject. This paper responds to this gap and examines a case of one of the fastest growing airports in Australia – Gold Coast Airport with a lens of social responsibility. First, it is shown that the social aspects of noise grievances issue ought to be addressed by social responsibility lens. Second, it is demonstrated that the analysis of social barometers on noise grievances can generate useful insights for shaping airport social responsibility (ASR).
