Title: | Making It Stick. The Post Literacy phase of the Literacy for Life Foundation Aboriginal adult literacy campaign | Contributor(s): | Durnan, Deborah (author); Boughton, Bob (author)![]() |
Publication Date: | 2018 | Handle Link: | https://hdl.handle.net/1959.11/27990 | Abstract: | Across western and north western New South Wales, there are dozens of small to medium size towns, many of them including Aboriginal communities as a significant part of their population. In 2012, the authors began working with a national Aboriginal steering committee on a pilot project in one of these towns, Wilcannia. The aim was to investigate whether a mass adult literacy campaign, based on the Cuban Yes, I Can! (or Yo, Si Puedo!) model, could be effective in increasing the rate of adult literacy in these communities (Boughton, Ah Chee, Beetson, Durnan, & LeBlanch, 2013). | Publication Type: | Journal Article | Grant Details: | ARC/LP160100257 | Source of Publication: | Fine Print, 41(3), p. 11-15 | Publisher: | Victorian Adult Literacy and Basic Education Council (VALBEC) | Place of Publication: | Australia | ISSN: | 0159-3978 | Fields of Research (FoR) 2008: | 130101 Continuing and Community Education 130301 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education |
