Abstract: It seems that the students' musical experience outside of school is an important part of their musical learning. There is not a great amount of research on musical creativity compared to the importance given to the topic. Furthermore, many of the studies yielded inconsistent results, partly due to different methods of measuring musical creativity and different age levels of the subjects. In general, the studies with composition tasks showed different results from those with improvisation tasks. ... Therefore, it seems that compositional creativity and improvisational creativity are not the same ability. This study chose a composition task to measure musical creativity.
