Abstract: The purpose of the study was to identify creative thinking in music by analyzing compositions by 20 seventh-grade students in Korea. The results showed that some compositions were musically correct but not creative. They were successful compositions according to musical rules and would get high marks in formal examinations by music teachers. However, they showed little original thinking in music by being typical of music textbook songs and children songs.
