Title: | Identifying creativity in compositions through a musical analysis: Musically creative vs. musically correct | Contributor(s): | Auh, Myung-Sook (author)![]() |
Publication Date: | 1999 | Handle Link: | https://hdl.handle.net/1959.11/10452 | Abstract: | The purpose of the study was to identify creative thinking in music by analyzing compositions by 20 seventh-grade students in Korea. The results showed that some compositions were musically correct but not creative. They were successful compositions according to musical rules and would get high marks in formal examinations by music teachers. However, they showed little original thinking in music by being typical of music textbook songs and children songs. | Publication Type: | Conference Publication | Conference Details: | ASME XII: Australian Society for Music Education XII National Conference, Sydney, Australia, 9th - 13th July, 1999 | Source of Publication: | Proceedings of the 12th Australian Society of Music Education National Conference - Opening the Umbrella: an encompassing view of music education, p. 7-14 | Publisher: | Australian Society for Music Education | Place of Publication: | Baulkham Hills, Australia | Fields of Research (FoR) 2008: | 130201 Creative Arts, Media and Communication Curriculum and Pedagogy | Socio-Economic Objective (SEO) 2008: | 930202 Teacher and Instructor Development 930201 Pedagogy |
