Biography
Dr. Ilias Mahmud is an academic and researcher with over 18 years of experience in public health and disability rehabilitation, contributing to institutions across Bangladesh, England, Saudi Arabia, and Australia. His academic journey began with a B.Sc. in Occupational Therapy from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, followed by a Master of Public Health from BRAC University, Bangladesh, and a PhD in Epidemiology and Population Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, London, UK. Currently, he is the Programme Coordinator for Health at London Churchill College, where he coordinates the development and management of the Higher National Diploma in Healthcare Professions’ Support for England programme. He is also an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the University of New England, Australia, contributing to research projects and supervising research higher degree students, and an Adjunct Assistant Professor at BRAC James P. Grant School of Public Health, where he supervises Master of Public Health students' research projects. His previous roles include Assistant Professor of Public Health at Qassim University, where he taught in the public health bachelor programme, engaged in research initiatives, reviewed curricula, and monitored the quality of public health education at the university, and Assistant Professor of Public Health at BRAC James P. Grant School of Public Health, where he contributed to teaching in the Master of Public Health Programme and managing research. Dr. Mahmud’s research profile includes over 60 publications in Scopus/Web of Science-indexed journals. His research work focuses on epidemiology, social determinants of health, and the development of public health interventions. He led several funded research projects, including coordinating multi-country consortium projects, emphasizing inclusion, equality, and contextual understanding in health research.
