Abstract:

As I write this editorial, the COVID-19 vaccinations are gradually being rolled out in many parts of the world. Here in Australia, we have been a bit later than countries such as the U.K. and U.S.A. but we also have very little community transmission so there has not been as much urgency. I hope that the process is going well in your country and that borders between countries are able to open up soon. Many scientific meetings have been postponed or held in online 'virtual' mode. The Australian Poultry Science Symposium was held virtually in February this year and was very successful, but comments from many participants indicated just how much they missed the interaction that accompanies face-to-face meetings.
