Abstract: This chapter will focus on some main issues associated with Education for Sustainability (EfS) as a basis for teachers' understanding to support their teaching practice. As knowledge about sustainability needs to be contextualised for teachers of EfS, the chapter will also consider how teachers' knowledge and understanding of associated issues needs to be situated within the context of appropriate pedagogy and how children learn.
