The conference theme of Quality Schools Equal Quality Education raise; once again the perplexing conundrums of what constitutes quality, how it is conceptualised, and how it is promoted, assured and sustained. It points to the challenge of definition, management and operationalisation. Not all these questions were raised nor were they all resolved, but they constituted the scarlet thread that wove the Conference presentations and workshops. Seen in the context of school improvement and school effectiveness movements, change management and the learning organisation, the quest for quality schools and quality education makes a great deal of common sense.en
