Abstract: The achievements of its students are a school's first concern - its reason for being. And when the outcomes of the school's endeavours are seen to be exceptional its community members can be justifiably satisfied and proud of this accomplishment for theirs is a school that illuminates a pathway excellence that others may follow. ÆSOP - An Exceptional Schooling Outcomes Project - was undertaken in order that all public secondary schools in NSW might be assisted in achieving excellence in their students' achievements. The project focused specifically on a sample of those New South Wales Government (public) schools producing outstanding student learning outcomes within Years 7-10. The preliminary research was conducted in 38 sites within this sample of public secondary schools during 2002-2003.
