dc.description.abstractMusical creativity has been emphasized in music education for decades. The Sixth Educational Curriculum in Korean (National Division for Education, 1992) stated that developing students' musical creativity is one of the educational goals in schools. The National Standards for Arts Education (National Arts Education Associations, 1994) in the USA, which is a national reform movement for musics programs in schools, also emphasized its importance by including a variety of creative musical activities. However, it appears that little improvement has been made in instruction on musical creativity. In fact, many music teachers seem that they don't know what and how to teach to develop students' musical creativity. Because they were not encouraged to be creative in music classes and most of them have never created music themselves. Research findings on musical creativity are summarized as follows...en
