dc.description.abstract | We use a interpretive approach informed by the phenomenological underpinning of the new sociology of childhood (Conroy & Harcourt, 2009; Schiller & Einarsdottir, 2009). In this approach we position children as active citizens who are able to give account of their own lived experiences. In accordance with Schultz's interpretation of phenomenology (Holstein & Gubrium, 2005), our perspective encourages us to focus on the way our participants experience their every-day world. Our role in the research is to interact with our participants to create a shared understanding of these experiences. | en |
