This article articulates some of the characteristics of narrative and offers a brief critique of the potential of this genre for extending the territory of management scholarship in the People's Republic of China (PRC). Through an understanding of narrative and its potential for enriching our understanding of the workplace, we can be better equipped to manage the radical changes taking place in the PRC. The paper argues that taking account of voice narrative is necessary if we are to make sense of the short-to-medium trends taking shape in the PRC.en
