Abstract: Accurate genetic parameter estimation of performance traits is important for prediction of the breeding value of stock. Genetic parameters for performance traits have been estimated in many studies for temperate environments but only a limited number of studies can be found for tropical environments. This study focuses on a tropical environment and estimates the genetic parameters for growth rate and backfat for large White (LW) and Landrace (LR) pigs in Indonesia.
