While selection for performance traits has been very successful in pigs, the resulting genotypes require understanding of the economic consequences of increased environmental sensitivity should incentivise development and use of new selection criteria and trait weightings in pig breeding programs that lead to improved long term outcomes of selection. The economic value of having more uniform performance assumptions made about the price of feed and the base per kg carcase price. While these parameters have higher weights leading to greater average revenue per pig. improved management and also appear to have greater susceptibility to environmental fluctuations. A better across a batch of finishing pigs is not well understood.en
