The most notable appropriation of this motif in Attic Old Comedy occurs in Aristophanes' Frogs. In this play, Dionysus goes down to the underworld in order to retrieve the tragedian Euripides but, instead, decides to bring back to life Aeschylus. | Publication Type: | Entry In Reference Work | Source of Publication: | The Encyclopedia of Greek Comedy, v.2, p. 468-469 | Publisher: | John Wiley & Sons, Inc | Place of Publication: | Hoboken, United States of America | ISBN: | 9781118542842 9781118605042 |
