Abstract: The DVD of Richard Franklin's first film 'The True Story of Eskimo Nell' was released in 1975. It is a curious hybrid of the two cycles that have come to define Australian cinema in the 1970, one is the bawdy sex comedy and the other is a period piece with its hallmarks of picturesque landscapes and meticulously re-created historical settings and costumes.
