Title: | Flipping Chemistry | Contributor(s): | Smith, Erica (author) | Publication Date: | 2019-12-03 | Handle Link: | https://hdl.handle.net/1959.11/29129 | Abstract: | We are pleased to hear from Dr Erica Smith, the 2018 Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI) Educator of the Year about how she flipped the classroom in her first year chemistry lectures. Erica holds a Bachelor of Science with Honours from the University of Sydney, a Master of Science with Distinction from the University of Greenwich (UK), and a Doctorate in Theoretical and Computational Chemistry from the University of Houston (USA). She was an Associate Professor of Chemistry at Lonestar College (USA) before returning to Australia to take up a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the CSIRO, where she worked on computational animal genetics for livestock breeding. She is currently a Senior Lecturer in Chemistry at the University of New England (UNE). Dr Smith’s scientific research utilises computer simulations to gain atomic level understanding of biological and industrial systems, with a focus on processes that occur at interfaces. | Publication Type: | Conference Publication | Conference Details: | AgEd Symposium 2019: 2nd AgEd Symposium for Agricultural Educators, Armidale, Australia, 3rd - 4th December 2019 | Source of Publication: | p. 1-1 | Publisher: | University of New England | Place of Publication: | Armidale, Australia | Fields of Research (FoR) 2008: | 130212 Science, Technology and Engineering Curriculum and Pedagogy | Fields of Research (FoR) 2020: | 390113 Science, technology and engineering curriculum and pedagogy | Socio-Economic Objective (SEO) 2008: | 930299 Teaching and Instruction not elsewhere classified | Socio-Economic Objective (SEO) 2020: | 160399 Teaching and curriculum not elsewhere classified | HERDC Category Description: | E3 Extract of Scholarly Conference Publication | Publisher/associated links: | https://www.une.edu.au/about-une/faculty-of-science-agriculture-business-and-law/school-of-environmental-and-rural-science/ers-news-and-events/2nd-aged-symposium |
