A strong case can be made for sex education which encompasses all those issues that could cause young people distress. However, legislation in Britain affecting the teaching of sex education may have made this less likely. This article examines the legislation in question along with some of the possible implications for teachers. In particular, it focuses on a Leicestershire comprehensive school where the legislation has influenced the teaching of sex education. A survey of students at the school revealed that as a result all the issues of concern to them were not being covered.en
