dc.description.abstract | Archaeologists widely acknowledge the last decades of the 20th century saw a decline in the number and relevance of lithic studies in Australia. This situation stimulated several efforts in the 1990sto revitalize and set a common agenda for Australian analysis. One such effort was a workshop held in 1995 to revise McCarthy's (1976) classic typology of Australian stone tools, and the book by Holdaway and Stern is a spin-off from this workshop. Thus one of Holdaway and Stern's aims in writing this book is to carry the workshop to fruition by updating McCarthy. | en |
