Abstract: Anthony Trollope was born in London on 24 April 1815 and died there on 6 December 1882. His father, a barrister descended from a line of Lincolnshire baronets, left his profession to take up farming, with disastrous results. During this period Anthony Trollope daily walked twelve miles to Harrow School; later he attended Winchester School, when his mother, Frances Trollope, started to stave off financial ruin through her career as a novelist. Unlike his father, however, Trollope did not attend university.
