Abstract: This portfolio is about the design, development, evaluation and presentation of a professional learning program for school leaders that will assist them in improving the community image of their schools. The portfolio considers a range of factors that influence school image including the leadership of the principal, customer service and ensuring quality operation of all aspects of the school. The portfolio draws on the experience of a number of principals and school leaders in the New South Wales Public School System and their opinions on how school leaders can improve the image of a school. The Literature Review covered aspects of school leadership, as they apply to the New South Wales Public School System, and other factors that may impact on the effectiveness of the principal in the day to day operation of the school. The review considered recent research on developing school image as well as factors influencing school choice. The review also identified the lack of registered programs available in New South Wales to assist school leaders in improving school image.
