Abstract: Memento - 1. Either of two prayers beginning with Memento in the Canon of the Mass, in which the living and the dead are commemorated. 2. Something to remind one of some person or event. ... My father sits in front of me. He stares off into the distance over my left shoulder. He looks like Errol Flynn. At least that's what most people say when they see the photograph on my desk. My father has a neatly trimmed moustache, eyebrows thick and black, hair combed back into a stylish quiff. He's wearing his summer khaki uniform with open jacket and shirt, sergeant stripe neat on his right arm, pilot wings complete with crown and a centered "NZ" above his heart. He looks virile and healthy. A perfect soldier.
