Title: | Time and Money: Understanding the Education Choices of Working Australians | Contributor(s): | O'Keefe, S (author); Crase, Lin (author); Dollery, Brian Edward (author) | Publication Date: | 2005 | Handle Link: | https://hdl.handle.net/1959.11/10695 | Abstract: | Australian workers are constantly reminded of the desirability of upgrading their skills in a rapidly changing work landscape. However, comparatively little is known about the relative importance of the factors impacting on the employees' decisions to undertake further education. This paper presents the results of an experimental choice analysis of worker's decisions to undertake formal courses of study. This novel approach to the question of participation produces findings that are broadly supportive of previous revealed preference studies. | Publication Type: | Conference Publication | Conference Details: | ACE 2005: 34th Annual Australian Conference of Economists, Melbourne, Australia, 26th - 28th September, 2005 | Source of Publication: | Proceedings of the Australian Conference of Economists, p. 1-25 | Publisher: | Economic Society of Australia Inc | Place of Publication: | Willoughby, Australia | Fields of Research (FoR) 2008: | 140211 Labour Economics | Socio-Economic Objective (SEO) 2008: | 910202 Human Capital Issues | Peer Reviewed: | Yes | HERDC Category Description: | E1 Refereed Scholarly Conference Publication | Publisher/associated links: | http://editorialexpress.com/cgi-bin/conference/download.cgi?db_name=ACE2005&paper_id=262 |
