Biography
I am a Senior Lecturer in Applied Physics within the discipline of Physics & Electronics at the University of New England, Australia. My research focuses on the computational design of functional materials for clean energy storage, including: Hydrogen storage Rechargeable metal-ion batteries Metal-sulfur batteries Nanosensors for detecting environmental pollutants and biomarkers for disease diagnostics My work spans multiple disciplines, including physics, chemistry, materials science, nanotechnology, and biomedical sciences, with a strong emphasis on developing novel functional materials for diverse applications. Currently, my research is centred on the rational design of high-capacity hydrogen storage materials and the development of efficient electrode materials to enhance rechargeable battery performance. Additionally, I am actively exploring nanosensor technology for applications in environmental monitoring, early disease detection, and defence. I have had the privilege of collaborating with leading theoretical and experimental research groups worldwide. Publications: Since 2011, I have published 192 peer-reviewed journal articles, with over 95% appearing in Q1 journals, including prestigious titles such as Advanced Energy Materials, ACS Energy Letters, Advanced Functional Materials, Angewandte Chemie, and Nano Energy. This represents an exceptionally high publication output relative to opportunities in my field. My work has been cited 7,024 times, with an H-index of 50, reflecting a strong upward trajectory, including over 1,750 citations in 2024 alone. Research Grants I have secured approximately $1.7 million in funding through fellowships, research grants, travel grants, and awards. This includes two highly competitive fellowships: the UQ Postdoctoral Fellowship (University of Queensland, Australia) and the Carl Tryggers Fellowship (Sweden), both awarded with a success rate of less than 10%.
