Biography
Jo Coghlan is an Associate Professor in Sociology and Politics. Her focus is on examining identity and respresentations in inter-dsciplinary ways using mixed methods. Some recent projects have focused on framing of political women and political fashion, material culture studies of death and attitudes towards death, romance novels as social and historical narratives, representations of royalty in film and television, American television as social criticism, impact of COVID-19 on consumption and the social politics of vaccinations. Jo is also the Chair of UNE's Human Research Ethics Committee and it the Head of Department for Social and Philosophical Inquiry, as well as being an active member of the Popular Culture Association of Australia and New Zealand and the Gothic Studies Association of Australia and New Zealand.
