dc.description.abstract |
As the sub-title indicates, this book presents a “comprehensive science synthesis” of current research and practice in invasive species management withing the context of grassland and forest ecosystems across the United States (US). Emerging from the Forest Service divisions of the US Department of Agriculture, the editors have drawn together a long list of contributing authors from across government, non-government, and university research faculty. The publication takes the form of a technical report (consisting of an Executive Summary, standardized Chapters, and an Appendix). Each chapter provides a brief survey of knowledge, with informative sub-headings to aid navigation, a “key findings” summary and identification of knowledge gaps or “key information needs” to inform future research directions. Regional examples are provided throughout and the Appendix includes summaries of the US regions including Alaska, Hawaii and Pacific islands, the Northwest, Southwest, Midwest, Northeast, Great Plains, Southeast and Caribbean. As promised by the title, the focus is primarily on the US experience.
| en |
