The following paper is the reflection of a sometimes frustrated Generation X nurse who nurses in a rural community, has a family and limited financial security as a result of rolling contract employment. What does it mean to be 30-something and a nurse? What will the future hold for a career, for a personal life? Does it matter in the wider scheme of health service provision to the nation? Is running a "frock-shop" a better lifestyle alternative? At least humanity will always need clothes ... perhaps society doesn't need good nursing as much?!en
