This dataset is collected for investigating the determinants of steel industry performance in China. Using the panel data of 26 listed companies for the period 2007 to 2017, along with various estimators, such as the firm’s stock price, management quality, long term development strategy and external economic environment. In addition, the data include 8 financial indexes of the 26 companies for the period 2007 to 2017. These financial data were collected manually or calculated based on the balance sheet, income statement sheet, and cash flow sheet of the sample firms’ quarterly financial reports, which are downloadable from the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchange websites. Meanwhile, other macro-economic level data were collected from the Chinese Mysteel organization and Chinese Wind database.en
