dc.description.abstract#Me Too - Black is one of a number of musical compositions by the composer that responds to the 2017/2018 digital #Me Too campaign and the events that unfolded around the Harvey Weinstein scandal. The work explores the experiences and emotions of the victims and focusses on the reaction of anger toward the perpetrators. The visual elements of work explore polarising black and white imagery and intend to portray a sense of distress and apprehension. <br/> #Me Too - Black is devised to utilise gestural movement detection systems for musical performances with voice, electronics and the body and draws on beat-based electronic music genres. In the premiere performance of this work, Hewitt works with her eMic and wearable controllers that detect arm and hand movements, while Mainsbridge uses her system that detects whole body motion via the Kinect gaming controller.en
