dc.description.abstract | This chapter provides a broader regional context, which highlights the complexity of the challenges of work-readiness and employability of vocational education and training (VET) and higher education (HE) graduates in the Association of South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN) region. It considers stakeholder responsibilities, especially in relation to skills mobility and international skills recognition. The chapter examines ASEAN regional partnerships in light of Internationalisation of Higher Education. Megaforces, as described by Batalova, operating in the ASEAN region will greatly influence the future supply and demand and mobility of professionals. Panth investigated skills development for employability and inclusive growth in developing countries in the South Asian Region and suggested critical ways the training systems in these countries need to improve to meet the contemporary demands. In line with major donor organisations like the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank, Panth also views the top three constraints to economic growth for South Asia as: transport, energy and skills. | en |
