The deepest and oldest volcanic rock appears to be fore-arc basalt (FAB), a distinctive type of volcanic rock recovered during dredging and submersible sampling of the IBM fore arc (Reagan et al., 2010). Drilling at Site U1440 also intersected this rock type. | Publication Type: | Book Chapter | Grant Details: | ARC/LE140100047 | Source of Publication: | Proceedings of the International Ocean Discovery Program, v.352, p. 1-25 | Publisher: | International Ocean Discovery Program | Place of Publication: | Texas, United States of America | Fields of Research (FoR) 2008: | 040304 Igneous and Metamorphic Petrology 040202 Inorganic Geochemistry |
