dc.description.abstract | Insects are all around us. They live in our houses, feed on our food and our clothes and some even puncture our skin and feed on us. We often only notice insects that are a nuisance, but without their help, our crops would not grow, because they pollinate many of the plants we use for food Insects come in many shapes and sizes. There are very tiny ones that you need a microscope to see, while others are bigger than your hand. But no matter where you find them or how different they look, all insects have three pairs of legs. There are so many different types of insects that scientist have not even collected half of them and have named only a few. Many insects can fly, and this has helped them to spread all over the world. Each insect has a hard outer skin that protects it. This skin is called an exoskeleton. | en |
