Abstract: The aim of the visit was to undertake an education, training and developmental needs assessment of five hospitals, one rural clinic and two educational facilities. Specifically, the visit was to identify the current approach used to deliver nursing and midwifery education and to evaluate its adequacy. In addition, the 'visitors' were to identify how well theoretical learning was transferred into clinical practice and assess the status of the educational and clinical environment, and availability of clinical resources.
