The author looks for traces of John Hus in texts from the first years of the Hussite revolution (esp. Laurentius of Březová's 'Chronicon Hussitarum') and claims that the presence of the reformer is surprisingly scarce there. On the basis of lack of decisive evidence he comes to the conclusion that this silence is significant and that "there is no point assuming that Hus remained in the thinking and motives of either the crusaders or the warriors of God so deeply and so thoroughly that he constituted a factor which might simply be taken for granted".en
