Crocker served his articles of clerkship with his father and was admitted as a solicitor in 1912. Shortly before his admission, on 25 January 1911, he married Mary Madeline (1884/5-1953), daughter ofAlfred Harris Tailby, a draughtsman, with whom he had one son and five daughters.
