Abstract: This study of the Mt Hagen Market was undertaken to assess the impact of the redevelopment that was supported by the Australia - PNG Incentive Fund in 2006. The purpose of the research, as set out in the Study's Terms of Reference, was to explore the following factors: 1. Characteristics and sustainability of high quality market management; 2. Impact of the market on agricultural models in Mt Hagen and Western Highlands Province; 3. Improvements in collaboration between agricultural NGO/organisations as a result of the market; and 4. Impact of the market on urban women and street youths. It also aimed to provide recommendations to the Incentive Fund's Management Group to assist in decision-making and planning for assessing future market development proposals.
