Food security exists when all people at all times have access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food to meet their dietary needs and food preferences for an active and healthy life (World Food Summit of 1996 in World Health Organization: online.) Education security refers to not only the access to quality education but also to the manner in which certain sets of knowledge are disseminated and advanced. This investigation critically assesses the development of education security as a new concept with the objective of identifying gaps that may exist between the transfer of new ideas, the standardisation of curricula, and the underutilisation of and appreciation for local knowledge.en
