It seeks to refute the generally accepted view that François Hédelin, abbé d'Aubignac is the author either of this play or of an original prose play upon which the versified adaptation was based. The article concludes that 'Le Martyre de Sᵗᵉ Catherine' is likely the work of St. Germain, the mysterious author of the tragi-comedy 'Le Grand Timoléon de Corinthe', published in 1642. |
