dc.description.abstract | In Australian Folklore No.11 (1996) the present writer discussed at some length the first two volumes of Francis Edward Abernethy's detailed history of Texas work in folklorics entitled: 'The Texas Folklore Society', viz: Volume I, 1909-1943, and Volume II, 1943-1971. The review then also described the materials surveyed by Francis Abernethy, the Society's long time secretary and editor, as an account of one of the most productive and significant regional folklore societies in the separate areas of the United States of America. This short essay now is concerned to comment on some of the other and more recent publications flowing directly from the Society. For although the Texas Society (membership) was but one part of the group of institutions supporting the periodical, 'Western Folklore', most of its issues also indicate a considerable but not so obvious input from Texas scholarship. | en |
