A method and apparatus to generate receive and share anchored location information and associated information on content enjoyment experience over a network. The method includes, responsive to receiving a request to stream the multimedia content over the network, determining whether anchored location information for the multimedia content has been generated. The method includes requesting the anchored location information for the multimedia content. Additionally, the method includes, responsive to receiving the anchored location information, displaying a number of visual indicators for the anchored location information on a presentation timeline for the multimedia content, and generating additional anchoring location information to be shared with other users.

An apparatus and method for combining multimedia data are provided. The method includes obtaining first multimedia content from a first source, obtaining second multimedia content from a second source, selectively combining the first multimedia content with the second multimedia content, and outputting the selectively combined multimedia content. According to implementations of the invention, selected portions and/or fragments of multimedia content may be mashed up rather than the entirety of the multimedia content from either or both sources. Also, the mashup of the multimedia content may be varied and adapted based on the characteristics of the device performing the mashup as well as the characteristics of the available transport mechanism. Finally, implementations of the invention provide for flexible transformation and precise synchronization among multimedia elements.

This invention concerns a web-based system comprising a server, computer storage and web-portal to provide an integrated management feedback system for the assessment of educational services. The system particularly comprises an interface to input definitions of graduate attributes related to levels of complexity; and input definitions of learning outcomes related to teaching theory which defines levels for outcomes. A database to map relationships between graduate attributes at particular levels of complexity and their related teaching methods and assessment items; and learning outcomes at particular levels and their related teaching methods and assessment items. A processor to automatically respond to the assessment results for a particular student and determine and record both the graduate attribute levels of complexity, and learning outcomes levels, achieved by that student.

This invention concerns a document markup tool, that is an application where existing authored documents can be marked or annotated. For instance, formative or summative assessment submissions authored by students might be graded by a teacher using the markup tool. The tool itself is operable by a user at a computer user interface to: Recognize the members of a set of existing documents. Open one of the existing documents in a set and display its contents to a user together with a toolbar. And, select locations in the document and, using the toolbar, add commentary and scores to the document. Wherein the markup tool is automatically operable to: Total the scores made in a document. Display the scores in a graphical report in the document. Display a moderation panel which enables visual and statistical comparisons of the scores made in a document to the scores added to all the documents of the set. And, reflect changes to the scores made in a document in the displayed moderation panel.
