Abstract: One cannot but be struck by the jewishness' of the Gospel of Judas, as a number of commentators have already pointed out, especially Bart Ehrman: "It is striking that many Gnostic texts seem to be rooted in some kind of Jewish thought. A large number of them represent creative readings of the book of Genesis, for example. Not only that, some of the words and names that typically occur in these Gnostic texts appear to have Jewish roots. Just within the Gospel of Judas, for example, there is the god El..., the god Saklas Yaldabaoth ..., and so on."
