Abstract: This chapter provides an overview of the definition and measurement approaches for some of the key terms such as 'quality of life' and 'active ageing', followed by a discussion of the link between ageing and health promotion using a variety of examples from past research into these issues. The principles and issues in provision of health promotion for older adults are discussed to assist readers to develop skills in developing health promotion programs for older population subgroups.
