The Teacher Checklist Questionnaire (TCQ) was developed in a research project as a possible observational tool for primary/elementary school teachers to investigate the learning strengths and/or difficulties of students who might be twice-exceptional. The research included a trial of the questionnaire in one school and with a small sample size.
The TCQ has two sections:
Section A is based on the six natural-ability domains of Françoys Gagné’s Differentiated Model of Giftedness and Talent (DMGT 2.0; Gagné, 2008, 2013), and Section B has three categories of learning difficulties.
There are multiple items for assessment in each of the nine categories, using a six-point Likert scale.
Findings from the trial of the TCQ suggest that it shows promise as a non-diagnostic assessment tool for investigating the learning profile of possible twice-exceptional students (with potential for wider general usage in the classroom).
en
