Every day around the world parents and care givers vocalize playfully with their infants and children. They sing songs together, join in chants and rhymes, play recorded music in the car, and perhaps as a special treat put on a favorite CD before bed and listen together or dance. This use of music in family life provides a basis for understanding why it is proposed that music and music therapy can be helpful for children and their care givers who need support and help in their relationship.en
