Girls are under-represented in schools in many parts of the world. Eliminating gender disparities and achieving gender equality in education are common goals of reform movements in education. Some writers believe that increasing girls' participation in education is the single most important factor in achieving other social and economic development goals. There are, however, many obstacles to be overcome in order to increase girls' education levels. Obstacles militating against gender equality in schools occur as both demand and supply factors. Implementing child-friendly / girl-friendly multigrade(MG) schooling is one strategy to increase girls' access to education. A helpful and relevant resource is described in this chapter.en
