|Title:||Introduction to 'New England Lives III'||Contributor(s):||Ryan, John Sprott (author)||Publication Date:||2008||Handle Link:||https://hdl.handle.net/1959.11/2170||Abstract:||This volume contains some nine substantial biographic essays, all of which focus in some detail significant persons, - perhaps fifteen in all, - whereas the first and second collections in this series were more concerned with discrete individuals and careers. However, almost all the portraits now included focus significant periods spent in the New England region, this term again deemed to include particularly the lower areas of the Northern Tablelands of New South Wales/ relevant adjacent regions. And again it was intended that the more focused treatment would allow for more intimate/ local and even anecdotal materials not likely to be found in standard reference aids. Further, there remains the hope that a number of 'our' lives may ultimately achieve booklength treatment later.||Publication Type:||Book Chapter||Source of Publication:||New England Lives III, v.3, p. xv-xx||Publisher:||University of New England in association with the Armidale and District Historical Society||Place of Publication:||Armidale, NSW, Australia||ISBN:||9781921597022||Field of Research (FOR):||200502 Australian Literature (excl Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Literature)||HERDC Category Description:||B1 Chapter in a Scholarly Book||Other Links:||http://books.google.com.au/books?id=a81MPgAACAAJ&dq
