Negligence: A Practical Learning Approach

Abstract

This book is distinctive in that it provides an overview of the essential elements of negligence law based on a 13-week semester. It is aimed at law students and is intended to provide a flavour of legal practice by introducing students to crucial applied legal writing skills, such as the preparation of in-house memos and client letters. These are tasks central to the work of a trainee and they allow the legal information to be seen in context. The book divides the topics so that they will fit into the typical semester framework. The book focuses on key cases and principles and provides links to the traditional, and more comprehensive, books in the field. Each of the 13 weeks follows the same pattern and includes self-test questions and answers, and problem-type tutorial questions. Importantly, example answers to the weekly tutorials are provided so that students are able to gain an understanding of how such questions may be successfully approached.
