dc.description.abstract | The general objective of this study was to investigate the potential for the use of high-yielding triticale in poultry feeding. Triticale cultivars were subjected to laboratory assessment and were used as the principal grain source for three feeding trials and the results are reported in this thesis. Male Cobb-500 broiler chicks were used in the first and second feeding trials, while Ross 308 chicks were used in the third feeding trial. All diets were provided as pellets, and the trials were conducted in environmentally controlled housing. The assessment of the chemical characteristics of triticale cultivars, and feeding trials with diets containing triticale are presented in individual chapters in the form of stand-alone research papers. | en |
